“The Lion King Rises” – Hilarious Parody Trailer Mashup of The Lion King/The Dark Knight Rises
Guess who’s back!
Sorry folks, I left Manimals hanging last year due to issues in my professional and personal life, but hopefully 2012 will be a prosperous one.
To kick things off, here’s a clip of an awesome mashup of footage from The Lion King with the audio from the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. It’s one of the things that helped my new year start with a smile. In my pants.
Awesome stuff.

What my 4-year-old taught me about technology
Humorous observations. Today’s kids are being conditioned to certain forms of technology. I grew up with the concepts of a GUI and mouse ingrained in my mind. My father knew the DOS prompt, but adapted well enough. I have no doubt I’ll be able to adapt to the interfaces and tech of the future, but it’s our kids who will be the natives.
Damn, I feel old.
Nokia’s first Windows Phone, the Nokia Lumia 800 gets announced
So Nokia announces their first Windows Phone pho…device. Essentially a Nokia N9 with Meego stripped out and shoved Windows Phone 7 inside.
The internal specs on it are competitive (16 GB storage, 1.4 GHz processor, 3.7″ inch screen), and Windows Phone 7 “Mango” seems nice enough, but the questions on how everything works together will have to be determined next year.

Neven Mrgan – Labeling the Back button
Good points about labeling buttons in apps. It doesn’t seem obvious, but when it isn’t done properly, it tends to be irksome.
Nest, A Learning Thermostat Created by Former iPhone/iPod Developers
Speaking of things that look like HAL 9000, here’s a self programming thermostat from some former Apple guys, including the “father of the iPod,” Tony Fadell. Interesting concept.
