“The Lion King Rises” – Hilarious Parody Trailer Mashup of The Lion King/The Dark Knight Rises

with one comment

Guess who’s back!

Sorry folks, I left Manimals hanging last year due to issues in my professional and personal life, but hopefully 2012 will be a prosperous one.

To kick things off, here’s a clip of an awesome mashup of footage from The Lion King with the audio from the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. It’s one of the things that helped my new year start with a smile. In my pants.

Awesome stuff.

Look for more from me soon!

Everything Is A Remix: THE MATRIX

leave a comment »

Part of the fantastic “Everything is a Remix” series by Rob Grigsby Wilson, examples of influences (and in some cases, straight up copies) from previous works in the Matrix. Wilson has covered previous films before, but the Matrix is one of the first films where I can recall that the director(s) acknowledged influences from Asian film making, anime, and literature.

“Good artists copy, great artists steal.”

Imperial AT-AT Walker Stroller

If I ever have children, this is what they will be transported in. God, it’s like I’m setting them up for immediate failure in life. Whatever, that’s not my problem.

I Am Your Father Reaction

This video is pretty awesome. I can’t recall when I first found this out, but I was probably the same age as this kid, watching Empire on cable or VHS. Totally one of the biggest twists in film history, but in today’s age, it will be really hard to keep this twist from my future children.

Hopefully just future CHILD, but I don’t know what damage I might have done already.

Sony used to be one of my favorite companies. Now? They’re a bunch of douches. Thanks, Sony. Way to look out for your customer.

These are shoes, that are covered in hair. Pony hair, but still – these shoes are covered in hair. The lengths people go to…

The draining of color in modern movies

leave a comment »

Interesting read. Subconsciously, I’ve noticed that the color is becoming more monochromatic in films lately, and didn’t mind it, until I saw this comparison against films of yesteryear. I can understand it, since the darker tones are meant to imply grittiness – a fine example being the Harry Potter films, which begin with saturated, bright colors, gradually becoming dimmer and grittier as the stories grow darker and more “adult.” Whether this is a valid viewpoint or not is up for debate, but this is the way I feel about it.
